God's Plan of Salvation

From the beginning of time, Satan (our adversary and enemy) has fought against us and God. When God formed Adam and Even and set them in Eden, the devil was there to deceive Eve into eating the fruit which God had forbidden them to eat (Genesis 3:1-6). Adam, a man who was (at his creation) sinless, perfect, and ideal, brought sin into the world and marred what God Himself had made. Periods in history--like the time of the great flood (Genesis 6:5) and the judges of Israel (Judges 21:25)--when mankind completely abandons God have passed, and seem to be upon us today. Paul concluded that "all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Because a perfect man sinned (Adam), it would take a perfect man to remove the stain which sin left. For this reason, God always had a plan to save mankind.

Christ is called "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world" (Revelation 13:8). He is the One through Whom salvation comes (Acts 4:11-12). It is His blood that washes away sin (Revelation 1:5). It is in Him where salvation is found (2 Timothy 2:10). A person must, then, destroy the old self who serves sin and be renewed in Christ. "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). Only in Christ can be be renewed. How do I get into Christ then?

  • Hebrews 11:6: "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

  • Acts 17:30: "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent."

  • Romans 10:9-10: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

  • Romans 6:3-4: "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father even so we also should walk in newness of life."

  • Revelation 2:10: "Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life."
